Chip Processing ….Saving money responsibly

The Problem:

During the process of machining screw machine products, both parts and waste chips are typically saturated with machine oil. HK was spending excess money on costly machine oil while too much oil was being thrown away with waste chips.

The Solution:

HK procured a chip spinner and oil clarifying equipment to improve processing of finished product and waste chips. The chip spinner acts as a high speed centrifuge to remove oil from the surface of processed metal. Oil is then collected and processed through the clarifier for reuse.

The Result:

HK was able to cut the amount of oil used to process screw machine parts by 50%. We now save approximately 50 gallons of machine oil per week. This means we are purchasing less oil and we are disposing of less oil. In this case, the environment wins, HK wins, and our valued customer gets a more responsible product at lower cost.
