HK Proprietary Cutoff
Saw ….innovation by design
The Problem:
Every screw machine part needs to be cut from the bar stock
in the process of machining. The amount of material removed
during cutoff can be significant. In some cases, screw shops
are effectively throwing away valuable raw material. Another
problem occurs when customer require flat surfaces across
the cut plane. Traditional cut off blades tend to wander while
machining causing undesired effects.
The Solution:
HK heard about cutoff saw technology intended to improve the
cutoff operation for machining operations. Saw blades can
be very thin saving material and requiring less sharpening
then blade. Products on the market were generally expensive
and bulky. HK set out to design a better solution. The resulting
product engages all the benefits of using a cut off saw, however,
the new solution used the power train of existing screw machines
and fit within the machine enclosures.
The Result:
Parts can be cut from material stock faster with less material
waste. Another benefit was flatter cutoff with less nib (the
material left over at the center of a machined part). No one
else can use the cutoff technology designed and developed
at HK Screw Machine Products showing our commitment to innovation
by better design.
